Alerus’ Stanton Shields Earns Certified Financial Planner Designation

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Oct. 29, 2020) – Alerus is pleased to announce Stanton Shields, senior financial advisor, has earned the certified financial planner (CFP) designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. The certification process requires extensive coursework, proven experience through at least 6,000 hours of professional financial planning, and a commitment to adhere to high ethical and professional standards when practicing financial planning.

Based in Mesa, Arizona, Shields leads wealth management activities for Alerus clients in Arizona. He has more than 12 years of experience in the financial industry and has served in a variety of roles including portfolio advisor, analyst, controller, and trader. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Arizona State University and a certificate of finance from Stanford University. In addition to his CFP designation, Shields is a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) and holds Series 7 and Series 66 investment licenses.
