Bob Hartzell

Robert (Bob) Hartzell joined Alerus in 2009, bringing more than 20 years of financial industry experience. Over the course of his career, Bob has gained extensive experience in commercial, small business, and consumer banking. Prior to joining Alerus, he held positions with large and mid-size financial institutions in the Twin Cities. During that time, he managed individual branches and large geographical footprints for those organizations, serving as vice president and senior vice president.
At Alerus, Bob has played a major role in the growth of the Twin Cities market. He has been a leader in the organization, working toward growing business organically, through acquisitions and talent management.
As a trusted business advisor, Bob works to understand the needs and goals of his clients and offers solutions and advice that deliver the most value. To meet a client’s specific needs, Bob often brings other experts to the table, including wealth advisors, mortgage advisors, retirement specialist, and health and welfare specialist to name a few.
Bob has been extremely active in his community and has served as a youth hockey coach for 15 years. He also spent time on his local economic development committee.
In his spare time, you will find him at his family cabin in Wisconsin. Bob enjoys many lake activities from motor sports to water skiing to simply relaxing on the boat. He resides with Woodbury, Minnesota, with his two sons.
