Group President, Director of Sales and Service
David “Chip” Norris joined Alerus in January 2007, bringing with him more than 30 years of banking and financial industry experience. Prior to joining Alerus, he served in a variety of leadership positions at other institutions. His past roles include senior vice president and division manager in midmarket commercial banking, as well as vice president and regional manager for merchant services, corporate card sales and SBA lending.
As group president, Chip oversees Alerus’ Minnesota, North Dakota, Arizona, and National markets, as well as our National Client Service Center. He leads a talented sales force that provides solutions for clients in areas such as commercial banking, private banking, retirement plan administration, investment management, and employee benefits.
Chip is active in the community, currently serving on the Luther College Board of Regents. He is director emeritus of the North Hennepin Community College Foundation board and has held past leadership positions on the board of directors for the Afton Marina and Yacht Club and the board of directors for the Pinky Swear Foundation. Chip actively volunteers for the Minnesota Special Olympics and is a fundraising team leader for the Minnesota Multiple Sclerosis Society. He is a past president for the Brooklyn Center Rotary and recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award in Brooklyn Center.
Chip resides in Champlin, Minnesota, with his wife, Jari. They have two grown daughters and three grandchildren.
