John Jeffrey joined Alerus in 2001 after 18 years as principal shareholder with a law firm, where he focused on estate and tax planning as well as business law. As corporate counsel, Mr. Jeffrey works with Alerus Retirement and Benefits regarding plan design, compliance, tax law, fiduciary, and corporate issues. He specializes in 401(k) profit sharing plans, 403(b) plans, Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), and other defined contribution arrangements. Mr. Jeffrey graduated magna cum laude from St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota in 1980. He earned his law degree from the University of Minnesota in 1983, graduating cum laude.
