As a mortgage banker, Marlene helps people through the process of buying homes and refinancing existing properties. Marlene joined Alerus in 2013 and has more than 30 years of experience in the financial industry. Marlene is friendly, outgoing, caring, and positive when helping clients throughout the process.
Originally from Minto, North Dakota, Marlene began her banking career in Grafton in 1987. She relocated to Grand Forks in 2010 when she joined Wells Fargo’s mortgage team. After three productive years at Wells, she joined Alerus. Prior to her mortgage banking roles, Marlene spent 14 years as a personal banker, a role in which she frequently handled home equity loans and a wide range of other personal loans.
Marlene has extensive experience working with first-time homebuyers, handling VA loans, jumbo loans, and virtually all other types of home financing. From loan application through closing and even after closing, she is a trusted resource for her customers and realtors.
Active in the community, she is currently an affiliate member of the Grand Forks Board of Realtors and the American Legion Auxiliary. In 2014, Marlene was named “Affiliate of the Year” by the Grand Forks Area Association of Realtors for her outstanding services and contributions to the real estate industry.
Marlene enjoys spending time at the lake with family and friends, traveling, and playing piano. She and her husband, Richard, have three children and two grandchildren. They live in Grand Forks.
