Matt Jacobson
Lead Business Advisor
Matt joined Alerus in 2010 and has nearly 20 years of experience in the financial industry. His career has focused largely on commercial banking in both Grand Forks, North Dakota, and St. Paul, Minnesota.
As a lead business advisor, Matt is responsible for generating new business opportunities and managing significant client portfolios in the areas of banking, retirement plans, and wealth management.
Matt serves as the primary contact for new and existing clients, presents formal product proposals, and maintains ongoing prospects for new business development. He also works closely with experts across Alerus to serve business clients’ holistic financial needs and ensure access to the company’s suite of diversified services.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of North Dakota. He is an active United Way volunteer, past president of the UND Athletics Booster Board of Directors, and is active with Grand Forks Builders and Traders. Since 1997, he has been actively involved with youth sports. In his free time, Matt enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time at the lake.
He and his wife, Kari, have three children. They live in Grand Forks.
