Randy Newman joined the Company, formerly First National Bank of North Dakota in 1981, and became its president in 1987 and its chief executive officer in 1995. He served in those roles until he retired from such roles on December 31, 2021.

Prior to joining Alerus, Mr. Newman taught corporate finance and business strategy courses at the University of North Dakota. He was a director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines from 1997 to 2007.

Mr. Newman served as a Class A director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis from 2012 to 2018.

Mr. Newman received his BSBA in 1975 and his MBA in 1979 from the University of North Dakota.
