Sara Ausman

Sara Ausman joined Alerus in 2012 and has more than 30 years of experience in the financial industry, specializing in private and commercial banking. Over the course of her career, she has built extensive experience in relationship management and segment management and has held leadership positions with several institutions in the Twin Cities market, with an emphasis in serving professional service firms and private banking clients.
As director of professional services, Sara leads strategy and business development initiatives to grow its share of professional services clients in the Twin Cities. She leads her team to deliver value to clients in areas including commercial banking, private banking, retirement and benefits plan administration, and wealth management.
Sara holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree from Michigan State University. Active in her community, Sara has served on the boards of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and the downtown Minneapolis YMCA. She has been actively involved with the Common Bond Mentoring Program, the Minneapolis Business Partners Mentoring Program, the Ronald McDonald House, and Habitat for Humanity. She is a long-time member and supporter of the Minnesota Medical Group Management Association and the Association of Legal Administrators Minnesota.
She enjoys spending free time at her family’s cabin in Wisconsin. Sara lives in Edina with her husband, Richard. They have two daughters.
