As an SBA lending advisor, Terri Fleming collaborates with Alerus business advisors and works directly with small and mid-size businesses to provide structuring and origination expertise for loans guaranteed by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Terri joined Alerus in May 2021 and has more than 40 years of financial industry experience. She has specialized in SBA lending for approximately 25 years and has a deep understanding of the New Markets Tax Credit program, SBA 7(a) and SBA 504 loan programs, as well as overall SBA best practices, which she utilizes to develop effective processes and procedures for various SBA products.

An active member of her community, Terri often contributes her expertise to local economic development organizations. In addition to being a member of the Midway Chamber of Commerce and the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce, Terri is currently a board member and loan committee chairperson for the Neighborhood Development Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, which provides lending and technical assistance for minority entrepreneurs in designated low-income neighborhoods. She is a past six-year board member, board president and loan committee member for SPEDCO, a non-profit certified development company focused on helping small businesses obtain financing through the SBA 504 program. She has also served as a board member for the Town and Country Club in St. Paul, as a member of the City of St. Paul’s Ford Site Planning Task Force, a parish council member and finance committee member for the Lumen Christi Catholic Community, and as a member of the Highland Business Association.

Terri and her husband, Mark, live in St. Paul. They have two children and two grandchildren.
