Tom Ames
Business Advisor, Retirement Specialist
Tom Ames joined Alerus in March 2020, bringing more than 25 years of financial industry and retirement services experience. As a retirement business advisor, Tom works closely with business clients to support the management and administration of their retirement plans, including plan design, fiduciary reviews, and participant engagement. He is driven by a commitment to implement sound retirement plan strategies that make clients’ lives easier.
Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a master’s degree in finance from Walsh College in Troy, Michigan. He is a member of the Walsh College Alumni Association and the Aquinas College Alumni Association.
In his free time, Tom volunteers for his church doing activities to help those in need in his community. He and his wife, Heather, have four daughters, one rescue dog, and one cat. They live in Romeo, Michigan.
